Issue After installing Sophos for Sharepoint, Puremessage for Exchange, or Sophos Anti-Virus Standalone (Not Sophos Endpoint Security and Control Standalone), The antivirus may fail to update if Sophos Antivirus was not already on the system before install. Note: This can cause the installers for Sophos for Sharepoint and Puremessage for Exchange to fail as well. We are working on a solution for this issue and will update this KB as it becomes available. First seen in Sophos for Microsoft SharePoint PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+ 10.3.11 Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+ 10.3.12 Cause The version of Sophos Anti-virus used in the installers for Sophos for Sharepoint, Puremessage for Exchange, and Sophos Anti-Virus Standalone include versions 10.3.11 and 10.3.12 of our software for Windows. This version is older, and the update mechanism included with it does not get the updated software information from our update site. What To Do The correction is to install a newer version of Sophos Anti-virus on the system before running the installer for Sophos for Sharepoint or Puremessage for Exchange. For Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows, just installing a newer version will solve it. (Note: If you have already installed Puremessage or Sharepoint and it is still failing, just run the newer installer. No need to uninstall) To check if you are on the older version: double-click on the Sophos Shield Icon in the system tray Click Help -> View Product Information Expand Software under Antivirus and HIPS Look at the Sophos Anti-Virus version number (10.3.11 and 10.3.12 are affected) Sophos Anti-Virus installers obtained from Sophos Cloud, Sophos Enterprise Console, and the Sophos website (Endpoint Security and Control for Windows) are all newer, and will correct this issue. Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows from the Sophos Website is also affected by this issue, and should not be used.
