Make sure your nics are set properly. NIC 1 should be the LAN and NIC 2 should be WAN. Also make sure you give the machine you are using to login a static address of something on the same subnet as the firewall. I usually punch in a random 4th octet like 172.16.16.100. The XG does not have DHCP enabled by default so a static IP is required to access the device for initial setup.
