Forum Post: RE: Network Drives\Shares as destination in Data Control?

Hello Jack Williman , Data Control is strictly concerned with data (potentially) leaving the site. It isn't sophisticated data protection but a by-product of On-Access scanning. Thus any data read by a (supported) browser is considered a potential loss (you can't exempt internal web servers as destinations), all storage that is not of type Removable - whether local or remote - is considered on-site, furthermore devices are not checked whether they are internal or external. the scan could detect PID? as said, Data Control piggybacks on On-Access scanning. In theory an on-demand scan could apply the same rules but AFAIK this hasn't been implemented. Christian
