This article provides instructions to increase logging for OS X systems using advanced components such as MCS, Health, and Heartbeat Applies to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s) Sophos Cloud Managed Endpoint 9.4.0 (Mac) Sophos Cloud Managed Endpoint 9.3.4 (Mac) Operating systems OS X SAV for OS X - Enabling Advanced Logging and Storage We have several new components used in SAV for OS X which send messages to the system log. By default, these messages cannot be seen unless additional commands are run. Even if these are run, the messages are not saved to disk, so cannot be collected by our SDU tool. SAV for OS X 9.4.2 will contain additional improvements to address this issue. In order to enabled advanced logging and storage of it, please follow the instructions below. 1. Send the attached asl.txt to the customer ( File Download ) 2. Open a terminal window. 3. Go to where asl.txt is saved 4. sudo mv /etc/asl.conf /etc/asl.conf.orig 5. sudo mv ./asl.txt /etc/asl.conf 6. sudo syslog –c 0 –d 7. Replicate issue 8. Take an SDU ( KB33533 ) 9. sudo mv /etc/asl.conf /etc/asl.conf.sophos 10. Sudo mv /etc/asl.conf.orig /etc/asl.conf 11. Sudo sysloc –c 0 off 12. Send the SDU to Sophos Support. 123239
